Gridle: The Ultimate Daily Pathfinding Puzzle
Gridle is our answer to the daily puzzle phenomenon. While the concept of a shared daily challenge has grown in popularity, we felt that the hardcore logic puzzle genre was drastically underrepresented. We wanted to combine intense deductive reasoning with the tension of a modern survival logic game.
In Gridle, your objective sounds deceptively simple: find the hidden path from the start to the trophy. However, the grid is littered with hidden mines. Every step you take is a risk. When you step on a safe tile, you are given a numerical clue indicating precisely how many mines are adjacent to your current position. You must use deductive logic to map out the safe route. But unlike traditional logic games, Gridle is built on a brutal survival mechanic.
The 5-Lives Survival System
We believe that a puzzle game is only fun if there are real stakes. In most modern casual games, failure has no consequence. You simply press "restart" and try again infinitely. This removes all tension and turns gameplay into a mindless trial-and-error grinding session. We reject that philosophy.
In Gridle, you are given exactly 5 lives. Every time you step off the hidden path, or worse, step on a hidden mine, the path shatters and you lose a life. If you burn through all 5 of your lives, you are locked out. You must wait a grueling 5 minutes for your lives to naturally restore before you can attempt the grid again. This forces players to slow down, think critically about every single move, and actually use the numerical hints provided by the grid. It elevates Gridle from a casual clicker to a high-stakes daily brain teaser.
Procedural Generation and the Daily Seed
One of the core technical achievements of Gridle is our daily procedural generation system. We wanted to ensure that every single player around the world wakes up to the exact same puzzle, no matter their timezone or device. To achieve this, Gridle does not rely on a database of pre-built levels. Instead, the game engine uses a highly optimized seeded Random Number Generator (RNG) tied directly to the current calendar date.
Every night at midnight, the algorithm generates a brand new, cryptographically unique 6x6 grid. It mathematically calculates a continuous, winding path that is guaranteed to be solvable, and then procedurally distributes mines in the negative space. This means there are virtually infinite variations of Gridle, generated on the fly, entirely in your browser. It is a masterpiece of lightweight web engineering.

The entire game logic for Gridle is contained within a few kilobytes of highly optimized, vanilla JavaScript.
